Geocache Description:

Another cache in the Urban Sprawl series. This time we go to the west side of Bowmanville. Cache is not particularly hard to get to. Parking is available in the nearby plaza. Please don't park on the road.

This cache will bring you to the western edge of Bowmanville. You are standing at the intersection of Hwy. 2 and Green Rd. To the north west used to be an apple orchard and a driving range. They are gone now, and in their place is planned to be a Walmart, Home Depot, RCSS and Costco. Just what the world needs. I know driving 10 minutes up the road to the next closest ones is so very far for people today so this will be welcomed by many. Opposed by more.
On the north east corner used to be a nice little brick house with a huge backyard where the kids played. They have grown up and moved on. Now its planned for a commercial plaza and some restaurants. They will back on to the massive new high school that was built a couple years ago. The corner you are standing on (south east) used to be a farmers field that yielded corn. It has been a plaza for 10 years now. The road running north/south is Green Rd. It used to be a small two lane hard pack road that led into the farmer's field. Now its a major road that takes people in and out of their sub-division to the south. The road is also slated to be extended through down to Baseline Rd. to help the flow of traffic to the proposed development. More traffic, more development, more garbage and more farmland lost.

The cache is a 35mm film canister. You will need to bring your own writing instrument. Try to be stealthy as there is generally alot of traffic in this area.
