Geocache Description:

As the name suggestes this cache is placed in Queensland's wonderful South Western cattle and sheep country. Although easy to locate on the St.George - Mitchell Road the remoteness of the cache makes it a challenge for the all but the serious cacher. Love this part of the world. Enjoy finding the Wild & Wonderful West.

The Cache is constructed of a portion of PVC piping sealed at one end and with a screw lid on the other. Contained in the cache are Log Books for recording your visit and some bits and pieces for exchange.

I frequently visit this part of the world and have done so since 1967. I simply love this part of South Western Queensland. The people are great and the land, although dry and harsh at times, has a timeless rugged beauty which continues to draw me back at every opportunity.

As it is located about 6 to 7 hours drive West of Brisbane (Queensland’s Capital City) the Wild & Wonderful West cache represents a challenge to all but the serious Geocacher due to its location. The land and intrigue of the West makes it a challenge worth taking. Enjoy the challenge and the location.

Let me share this with you:

To see the country in all its harshness and yet splendour. To experience the glorious sunsets, the prelude to the tranquillity of the night when the stars in glorious array adorn the firmament and appear so close that you are tempted to reach out to touch them. To sit by the edge of a dam on dusk and watch a myriad of wildlife drink in the receding light knowing that you are there but in sensing no fear draw near. How I love the sounds of evening and the smell of the land after life giving rain knowing the miracle of life, both fauna and flora, will burst into renewed existence. I love the west, oh how I love the west! It’s a part of me and so it shall remain…..

Warning: Australia is home to some of the most deadly snakes in the world. Extra care should be taken when looking for this cache.
