WHAT? |
Food, fun and bowling! I have reserved all eight candlepin
bowling lanes at AMF Airway Lanes on the
northside of Springfield, MA. For those of you who are not familiar
with candlepin bowling (and being New Englanders who isn't??), in
candlepin, the pins are about the same height as the more
contemporary "Ten Pin" bowling, but skinnier. In addition, the
balls are about the size of a large grapefruit with no holes and
weigh about 3 pounds ... making this a kid favorite (no heavy
bowling ball to struggle with). Finally, instead of two balls per
frame, a bowler gets to roll three balls. It's much harder than it
looks!!! If you score over 100 in candlepin, you've had a great
game!!! If demand is high, we are allowed to "spill over" into the
Ten Pen area as well.
You are not required to bowl to
attend. However, if you want to participate in the bowling
activities, we will be collecting (via the honor system) $8 per
bowler to help recoup our cost of renting the lanes. Your $8 will
cover the cost for shoes, drinks, popcorn, pizza and two hours of
unlimited bowling.
As always, there will be a travel bug and geocoin
trading table. I will also be dropping my "New England Signature
Item Archive" Travel Bug (a large traveling lock-n-lock), so bring
your signature items for posterity's sake!
IF YOU WILL BE ATTENDING, PLEASE POST YOUR
"WILL ATTEND" LOG BY APRIL 9th. Please
specificy how many will be attending and how many in your party
will be bowling (some parents may just want to let kids bowl, for

PRIZES!! |
We will be raffling off a "READY-2-HIDE" ammo can
cache, it will be fully camouflaged in our prefered
"Western Mass Clan Style" (those of you who have found some of our
ammo can caches will know what we mean), labeled, and stuffed with
high quality swag & a log book.
To add some drama, the FTS cacher (First To
Strike) will receive a choice between two prizes. FTS will
get to choose between the SURE THING (An unactivated 2006
Bronze Massachusetts Geocoin) or the MYSTERY
PRIZE that will be revealed only after the FTS has
selected it! What could it be? Could it possibly be better than a
free, sold-out geocoin??? You'll have to wait and see. Remember
though, getting a strike in candlepin is a lot harder than you'd
think!! The prize that is left over will go to the STS (Second to
Strike). (Limit 1 prize per person, of course .... Heh heh
heh.)
Western Mass Clan will also happily accept prize donations to be
