The Bedford Branch of the Monroe County Library system began in 1880. A service to the Temperance and Lambertville residents with about 359 books. Today the Library has over 100,000 items. The Library serves as a community center too, with many programs, offered free to the public daily . Today this modern library of 30,000 square feet, has study tables, casual seating, access to the internet, e-mail available, many DVD's, storytimes, youth area, history room, meeting rooms and even a coffee and conversation area. Today the Bedford Branch is the largest and busiest branch library in the Monroe County system. Library hours are: Mon - Thur 9 am - 9 pm Fri - Sat 9 am - 5 pm Sun (Sept-May) Noon - 5 Walt Disney is quoted as saying "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates' loot on Treasure Island." Walt did not know about Geocaching at that time, I'm sure.
