In Huntington Beach State Park off of a designated nature trail. Terrain is generally flat, but will require a hike of about one-half mile. Obtained permission to place cache from Brenda Magers, Park Manager.
This is one of several caches located in Huntington Beach State Park. Please note there is an entrance fee to enter the park, but we think you will find it well worth the price. This is a beautiful park with nature trails, boardwalks overlooking both the saltwater marsh and freshwater lagoon, picnic and park areas, camping, as well as fishing and swimming on an unspoiled natural beach. It is also great for bird watching and when the weather is warm you are sure to spot alligators in the freshwater lagoon. There is also an educational center with various activities throughout the year. The park is also replete with history and includes an old mansion that was the winter home of Archer and Anna Huntington. We strongly suggest you take time to enjoy this terrific park.
The cache is an ammo box hidden a few feet off of a spur trail that connects to one of the park’s main nature trails. Contents when hidden included a watch, portable radio, deck of cards, kids card game, a small puzzle, play dough, small cross stitch kit, small picture frame, and stickers. There was also a special first to find box with several nice goodies.
Park in the area near the park office and camp store and follow the Kerrigan nature trail. Please stay on the trails until you near the cache -- there is no need to venture into the woods. When the weather is warm remember your bug repellant since the mosquitoes will be ready to welcome you!
