Geocache Description:

The cache is in an ammo can. There is a place to pull off the
highway at the cache location. Please, for your safety, DO NOT park
and cross the highway. This is our second Welcome to Lusk geocache.

In 2006, the town of Lusk put up four new "welcome" signs at each
entrance to town. Each sign depicts a scene of some historic value
to the town and county. One sign has a picture of the redwood water
tower, another has a ranching/cattle scene, one has a picture of a
covered wagon complete with early settlers on another open wagon
driving cattle, and the last one shows a picture of the
Cheyenne-Deadwood Stagecoach which ran thru Lusk, with several
stage stops still marked in the area, and is a vital part of this
town's past. These four scenes are ideal representations of our
county history with ranching still being the way of life for many
citizens of this county. The signs are a modern welcome mixed with
the old way of life that brought many settlers to the west years
ago. Welcome to Lusk and Niobrara County. Enjoy your stay!

Many thanks to MMGESTES who first placed this cache but are unable to maintain it due to a work related move. Our local Geocaching community will miss the three of you!
