Geocache Description:

This is a four-part multi-cache, consisting of three micro’s and a
large ammo can at the final. It is laid out to take you on a nice
walk through a little-known nature preserve.

Welcome to the Stewart Preserve. This 123 acre preserve has about 2 miles of trails, leading through beautiful hardwood forests and some hemlock forest and wetland. The preserve is owned by the Nature Conservancy, from whom permission was granted to place this cache here.

With a nod to my ancestry, the name Rampant Lion comes from the Scottish Royal Standard, a flag used historically by the kings of Scotland; the Royal House of Stewart was, for many centuries, the ruling family of Scotland.

Parking is limited to a few cars. Be careful not to block private driveways. Follow the right-of-way path straight ahead to the preserve entrance. The trail begins at the register box. Please be sure to sign in at the register. The trail is well-marked with orange tags on trees. All parts are either on or just off the trail, so there’s no need to bushwhack. Please stay on the trails.

The following coordinates will take you to the first micro: N 42 36.037 W 073 32.087

I’ve given this a rating of 2.5 due to the fact that the trail has an elevation change of about 150-200 feet between parts two and three. All parts are winter-friendly.

So now that you have all the info, quit “lion” around and get out there and find this And have a royal good time doing it.
