Geocache Description:

Deep into Barden Moor

This cache is located at Brown Bank Head on Rocking Moor in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. On a clear day there are excellent views of Earl's Seat & Simon's Seat (to the West & North West respectively) and the huge radar 'balls' of Menwith Hill army base to the east. The cache can be approached from a number of directions including the Cavendish Pavillion at Bolton Abbey, Storiths (via Hazlewood Moor) and Simon's Seat. If you approach via the Cavendish Pavillion or Storiths be sure to take a rest at an excellent shelter (built into a rock face with stone table and chairs) with awesome views of Bolton Abbey below. There are pretty good tracks most of the way to the cache with only the last section requiring some tramping through heather and grassy tussochs. Also note: (1) DOGS & BIKES ARE PROHIBITED from using the tracks; (2) Another of our caches, 'Syklopentolate', is located off the track that approaches from Storiths. If you get chance, try Buffers Cafe (in Back O'Th Hill' Farm, Storiths) with its excellent food and fantastic display of model trains and railway memorabilia - go upstairs and see, Dads and kids will love it!!

And there's more .......

If you liked this cache there are many more 'Sykesfamily' caches in similar, awe inspiring locations scattered around the Yorkshire Dales National Park and surrounding valleys. So grab your walking boot, pack your sandwiches, leave your troubles behind and head for the hills .... Enjoy!!
