Geocache Description:

Photobucket AL???

When I was a small boy growing up in this small community of about 800 people this was the center of our lives. People did not travel far from home in the 40’s and 50’s. When we would travel it would be only 40 to 50 miles away and usually one or two times a year. The two building you will see in front of you are the general mercantile and the market, and the office building to the left. The store contained everything you needed as they say from soup to nuts. A service station once stood across the road next to the railroad. The town soon died as people moved away and the timber industry moved to other larger towns. We all have our memories of the old hometown we grew up in, and there are a lot of boys and girls that grew up here that have fond memories of Holly Ridge.
