Geocache Description:

Only a boring micro cache I'm afraid but it is hidden in one of the oldest and most interesting villages in the S.Lakes.

The Cistercian Way passes right through Cartmel village, that and the fact that in summer the place can be heaving with tourists mean that the retrieval of this cache could be interesting.
The legacy of a thousand years of history is ever present in Cartmel with its ancient buildings and passageways.
The cache is hidden near the Village Market cross, which unfortunately is missing it's top.
The Market Cross was used to mark the gathering place where the farmers used to meet to trade their vegetables and dairy produce,by the Cross are old water pumps and ancient stone fish slabs,a further reminder of the past.
