Watery Wales 2 is a series of caches on the banks of lakes and
streams in the Welsh Hills. Unlike Watery Wales 1, some require a
little more walking across rougher terrain and aren't all suited
for younger children or the physically unfit.
The whole series can be attempted as a circular walk which will
require some navigation through rough ground without any marked
paths.
Anglers Retreat is a small fishing lodge on the
banks of the damned lake called 'New Pool'. I'm not an angler
myself but if I was then this place would be a heavenly place to
stay. Sufficiently remote to have a feeling of wilderness to it,
but easy to get to. Amazing views and no doubt some excellent
fishing on the doorstep.
It is possible to drive all the way to Anglers Retreat along the
gravel surfaced forest tracks that lead off the mountnain road from
Tal-y-Bont t0 Nant y Moch. However there was a temporary 'no
unauthorised vehicles beyond this point' sign part way along the
track when I hid the cache so I heeded the sign and walked the rest
of the way. If walking there is no need to follow the forest track
around a large loop towards Llyn Dwfn but you can take the track
that leads through the forest directly to Anglers Retreat.
The hint below gives the game away completely so only decrypt it
if you must!
