You're looking for a Flintstone jar. The hike has at least one elevation climb off the main path.
I have birded Arbor Hills Nature Preserve since 2001 by logging over 350 visits and tallying 165 species of birds. I have created a series of caches throughout the park based upon certain types of birds I find at different times of the year. Each cache is placed in the favored habitat of the bird when it visits Arbor Hills. This is the seventh cache in the series.
Arbor Hills is the eastern most range of the Black-chinned Hummingbird. 90 to 95% of all hummingbirds are Ruby-throated in this area. The Black-chinned is green on the back and sides. The chin is jet black with a violet band under the black. Every year in this spot, I find Black-chinned Hummingbirds here. They arrive in April and leave in August. I suspect they nest in the area by the cache.
Note: 4-6-09: The cache has migrated quite a bit from its original placement. The original camo is gone as well. It's current location is much easier. Coordinates updated to reflect its new home.
