Geocache Description:

A quick park-n-grab on the Appalachian Trail.

Did you ever have the desire to hike the Appalachian Trail, the "AT"? Just put everything else on hold and walk 2,170 miles or so, following the white blazes all the way from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine? Hard to find the time, right? Well, here's your chance to "get out" on the AT, even if its for only a hundred feet or so!

The AT crosses Hwy 64 a few miles west of Franklin, NC, at Winding Stair Gap. There is ample parking, which makes this a popular starting point for dayhikers. This cache is located only a few steps from the parking area and should be an easy find - please rehide the cache well. The cache is starting stocked with hiker swag, from AT decals and patches to a blister medicine pack and a hiking logbook - but feel free to trade any items.

When you get home, brag that you tackled a section of the AT (whether you admit it was only a hundred feet is up to you!) Enjoy!
