A short walk across Access Land to a relic of the Cold War.
Between 1964 and 1991 this bunker was one of over 1,500 used by the Royal Observer Corps. Built to a standardised pattern, the bunker function was to monitor nuclear explosions in the event of hostilities. The metal dome on the ventilation shaft was to link to a radio antenna, showing that this was a master post co-ordinating the activities of other bunkers in this part of the Pennines. The name of the cache is one of the code words in use at the time.
There is no need to enter the bunker enclosure to avoid further damage to the site.
