This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

To cache this fish you need to use the special fishing pole. A small flashlight or penlight may be of help even during the daytime, depending. Coordinates are to the gate only. The Cache Fish are likely nearby!

Crossing under Hwy 395, is the California Aqueduct.. A place of unnatural beauty. Just after sunrise and before sunset, this place is absolutely golden! Here walking and fishing for the canal's ever-present Cat Fish and other types that may have gotten in are permitted. You also have a chance to catch the famed Gold-Tipped or Black-Bottomed Cache Fish!

Unlike the Cat Fish in the canal, these Cache Fish exist in very special places, and require a very special kind of bait. Much like land sharks, these small fish only live around the water, not in it! So stay out of the canal please! For their dens, they prefer tight dark caves dug into fairly level ground.

To be an expert hunter, you must know the diet of your prey! Cache fish don’t like worms and are very mineral deficient mind you, however, they're especially attracted to any kind of small magnetic or thick iron-laden lure. Depending on which kind of fish you see (or suspect), the lure will might have to be different to get their attention! If it's a fat one, you may have trouble getting it out of the cave if your hands aren't nimble!

If you didn't bring your own pole to catch these guys, I have provided a specially engineered one nearby. Others may be laying about.. Please be careful when rehiding it that it's not lost or visible any more than how you found it.

Once you catch one of these little goody goodies, be sure to log online with your find which kind of fish it was that you pulled out! These fish are only permitted for catch and release so be sure to put them back right where you find them! (They aren't very tasty anyways!) Don’t be seen hauling these fish around for too long as there may be poachers about! If you don’t want any problems with them taking the cache fish, I suggest you do your fishing quickly! Good luck, and GO cache some FISH!

P.S. You MUST sign the fishing log on site or the game warden will have to confiscate your catch!

P.S.S. Stop on the way out at the wooden post with the metal thingy attached to it.. Remove cap. Check your air pressure.. ;) Huh?!!!!
