Geocache Description:

Age of Empires is named for Geo-son’s favourite computer game. Its location, Surrey Gardens, was the site of Empire Day celebrations back when Australia was still a pink blob on the map of the British Empire. (Empire Day was created in the year of Queen Victoria’s death, and renamed Commonwealth Day in 1958.)

The gardens are conveniently located between a grand reminder of Victorian era architecture on Union Road to the east, and an Armenian Apostolic Church to the west. The park’s high ground is occupied by various war memorials, 2 handy cannons embellished with Queen Victoria’s intaglia, and an assortment of other imperial relics. The posted co-ordinates will take you to one of these monuments; figures on various of them will lead you to the final location, at:

S 37° 49.ABC, E 145 05.DEF

A: Duration (in years) of Vietnam war – duration of Korean war

B: Year on Empire Day Fountain – 1930

C: Year Bandstand was erected – 12

D: Last digit of ID number on SW-pointing cannon

E: Middle digit of ID number on NW-pointing cannon

F: Number of Kannans commemorated in The Shrine

Age of Empires was initially a small cache, however, it has been replaced with a micro. It's a bit higher than we'd like, sorry about that. It may be a bit of a stretch for some. When replacing, it's possible place in a horizontal position and leave a tiny bit of the attachment showing, so it's not too difficult for the next finder.
