If you are from out of town this is a must place to visit. If you are local you should visit ofen and support this great education facility. Kopernik is the best sited and best equipped public observatory in the Northeast. It has three fixed observation telescopes (largest 20 inches) and twelve portable telescopes. It is New York's first science facility serving students K-12, teachers, and families. In addidition to astronomy classes, it offers many programs in earth science, computers, space, rockets and amateur radio. The facility also contains the K2ZRO Memorial Satellite Station the only facility of its kind in the Northeast to offer public education in space communications. In 2001 local students used this facility to talk directly with the astranaughts aboard the International Space Station.
