Watty's Mantra Traditional Cache
Lumberjack Tom: Indeed, I ran into the workers as well. They have pretty well paved the area, only narrowly missing the cache. I was lucky to be able to find it at all and have gone ahead and removed it. This one was fun, but it's time to move on!

Located off Bowling Blvd. on the edge of Shelbyville Road Plaza. Cache is bigger than a micro, but holds only a log. Bring writing instrument.
Watty Piper was highly visible when he delivered his gift to the world in 1930, but after that he fell back into the rank and file and was seldom seen again. His gift was a short children’s book entitled, “The Little Engine that Could.”
You remember the story don’t you? The little blue train engine. The huge load of toys that had to be delivered to needy kids. The bigger, stronger engines that refused to help. And of course the tall mountain that stood in the way. Still don’t remember? Well, how about this: “I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.”
Although no one realized it at the time, Watty Piper’s little book injected the concept of “mantra” into the American consciousness. Used by Indian mystics for centuries, mantras are words or strings of words repeated over and over to help focus inner energies toward understanding and enlightenment.
I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. Nothing summarized the old American “can do” spirit better than that.
When you search for this cache, put yourself in the place of “The Little Engine that Could.” See if you can devise a mantra that will help you find enlightenment, which in this case will be finding the cache. Then share your mantra with us when you log your find on the website. Keep in mind, though, that the website is like Watty Piper’s book: It’s intended for kids of all ages.
