The cache is close to the army Coast Defence Radar Station which
stands on the ridge overlooking Port Talbot and Swansea Bay.
The station was set up to provide radar plotting of both
shipping and aircraft movements. The three surviving buildings are
comprised of the operations block and two generator rooms, one
close by and the other about 100 yards to the south east. The
operations block has the gantry on top which used to support the
radar array, whilst the generator rooms would have housed duty and
standby diesel generators.
The station was situated to give maximum coverage and so the the
views from here are excellent. Hope you enjoy them and the
cache.
The cache is a 1 litre lock and lock type box and contains a
pen, pencil, sharpener, logbook and trade items.
Suggested parking at Brombil. Near Brombil Cottage ignore the
footpath sign pointing straight ahead, instead turn right alongside
the cottage. At the start of the wooden fence cross the stream on
the plank bridge and up through Graig Fawr woods to the ridge.
