A nice hike down one of the several trails in the labyrinth that is the Observatory, then a short detour of bushwacking from the main trail.
We hid this cache on St. Patty's Day, 2007 to commemorate our love of Ireland. If you can, keep an Irish theme going, and if you don't tote shamrocks regularly, do what you can! Good cache ideas are pots of gold, fairies, deeds to Irish land, plane tickets back to the Isle, Guinness, but PLEASE, no potatos. Dragons are also welcome! Lovely!
If you park by the Observatory, you will then be thrown into the maze of trail systems that is on the mesa. Never fear, if you can find the right trail off the bat. However, bushwacking may be in store for you if you choose the wrong path. As you near the cache location, you will have to leave the comfort of the main trail to find it.
Be mindful of the Observatory's hours, as parking after dark is discouraged.
If you seek the Emerald Isle, you may want to bring a blanket and pack a picnic lunch, or wine and cheese at sunset, or coffee and danishes if you are a morning person... and if you are a cache and dasher, wait at least 15 minutes when you find the cache. You won't be sorry.
