RoseThorn’s basically said it all about this place (nice cache by the way) but I’d like to tell my story. I grew up around here and spent most of my summer holidays building dens, tree houses, rafts and generally getting upto mischief. Cannot believe the mill was knocked down in 1982. I had a secret way into that mill. One day on my way out of the mill I fell about 30ft and broke both my ankles. My mate ran off crying and I crawled all the way home on my hands and knees. As I got older the sausages went missing out of the freezer, the spade out of the shed, the hammer and nails out of the garage and Jack at the newsagents sold me my matches (11 years old – how times have changed) and off we went for most of the summer days, carefree and our parents had nothing to worry about. Happy Days !!
