Geocache Description:

Stretching from Fountainhead Regional Park to Bull Run Regional Park, the Bull Run/Occoquan Trail traverses some of the most beautiful countryside to be found this close to Northern Virginia. The trek to the cache will take you along a portion of the blue-blazed trail and eventually onto a less-traveled path.

The hike as designed, from a small parking area (N38 43.857 W77 21.263) near the end of Wolf Run Shoals Rd. to the cache and back, covers a bit over five miles round trip.

The blue-blazed trail can be accessed from near the end of Wolf Run Shoals Rd. The trail changes elevation quite a bit as it climbs up small ridges and back down to the next stream valley. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club maintains the blazed trail so you will find it in fairly good shape, but expect a bit of slip-slop in wet weather. Once you leave the blue-blazed trail, you may have to bushwhack around some deadfalls.

Along the hike from the parking area to the cache you may note that there are few other caches in the vicinity. With a bit of luck, you'll log some miles and some caches!

Knowing the ingenuity of cachers, some may find a shorter way in, so your mileage may vary.

Included in the cache is TB Bat Attitude waiting for its inaugural trip.
