Geocache Description:

We'll be cleaning up a park near Buford Dam at Lake Lanier from 10am - 1pm.

This park has given Geocachers much pleasure as a site of many caches and trail systems. The GGA would like to do our part to help keep this wonderful park clean and natural. We will be meeting with Susan Duke from the National Park Service for a two to three hour clean up project. Susan will supply a big truck for us, but you should bring gloves and wear appropriate footwear.

Wheelbarrows and small carts would also come in handy if you have one and can bring.

Although the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area has asked that we abide by the NPS ban on physical caches we would like to thank the park staff for their past tolerance and support by helping to restore this park.

Susan and the other NPS authorities have been very enthusiastic about our offer to help clean up this park. Let's follow through on this with a good showing. It will give us a chance shine as conscience lovers of nature and what kind of a group Geocachers really are!

Make sure to bring some food as we will find a spot afterwards to sit down together to enjoy a well deserved picnic.

What a productive day! We had a big crew of cachers and we had a few non-cachers as well. Many thanks to non-cacher, not yet anyway, George F. who brought his 4 wheeler ATV and utility wagon which allowed us to be much much more productive. George also invited everyone over to his store, 'The Dam Store' afterwards for a great barbeque meal. Many thanks for his hospitality.
