Geocache Description:

A Family Friendly Cache located on the Hyde Park Heritage Greenway Trail, part of the Scenic Hudson Land Trust, this cache is a small rubbermaid container with a logbook and is suitable for small trade items. The question is this though... if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

This cache has been put out to celebrate the first day of Spring! When the snow is starting to melt, and the trails are getting muddy, and the new shoots are starting to burst through the ground in search of sunshine and warmer days! And geocachers that have been stuck inside all winter due to foul weather are starting to get a little cabin fever!

There is a parking area located at N 41.46.195 W 073.55.789. Another note, there are a couple other caches in the area nearby as well (at the Hyde Park Nature Preserve- see Colonel's Cache and Potbellied Lumberjack~ this is one of my favorites in the area) that are also out here nearby and worth the trip.

This should be very family friendly cache, use care especially if you have little ones with you when you get to the cache site. This cache should be winter friendly as well. You can stay on the trail until you are about 60' away from the cache, and you should be able to see the trail from the cache site as well. As it is a small cache its original contents include a geocoin, a Shrek TB, the logbook, and some signature tokens. Please use care when replacing the cache and cover it as good as you can! It is about a .7mi round trip from parking to cache and back again so it shouldn't take too long to complete. There is a coordinate in the listing as well where the trail splits off just in case it snows again and the way is not clear. Happy Hunting!

The trails are still covered in snow but it should be obvious where you are going. And as it is Spring now, there is a lot of water on the trails right now, recommend that waterproof/resistant footwear be used for awhile until all that snow finally disappears.
