Located in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest, at the former site of a homesteader's cabin and small barn. Site is partially cleared, and was select-cut in 2005.
This should be an easy find close to our beloved town, fast becoming a bicycling and geocaching mecca in Northern Wisconsin. Bring the kids, but keep an eye on them, for there are some areas of terrain and natural/junk debris that need caution. Huge white pine on this spot. Can you get your arms around it?
The site name includes reference to the nature of how parts of the original structures were demolished when the state acquired this acreage parcel. The rest of the name, well, you'll figure it out as you get closer.
Primitive electrical wiring and glass insulator are still visible growing into a tree. The area is worthy of a metal detector sweep, as there is an old household dump site here, and various small treasures.
Cache itself is also metal; an ammo box with some fun goodies.
Young chr tends this box, as it is near our homestead.

Try standing about 12' north of the cache, and check the echo across the lowland on a calm day! The kids will have fun with that.
