Geocache Description:

There was previously a cache (GCMFKP) in this area that came up missing, but I didn't think this place should go without one.

The road to the cache is really rough. In fact, it's the roughest road I've ever driven any vehicle on. I almost tipped my truck over on the way to place this cache. If you don't have a pretty beefy 4x4 and/or are not a skilled driver, I'd recommend hiking in to the cache. The road now is worse than I've ever seen it, and I'm sure it will continue to worsen.

The high terrain rating is due to the extreme difficulty of driving all the way to the cache, but if you choose to hike you can park almost any vehicle about a mile from the cache (at N 39° 37.287' W 110° 57.185'). The hike is moderately difficult. There are a few steep but fairly short hills along the way, and you will have to cross a small creek along the way, but this can be hopped over most of the time.

The cache is a few hundred feet from the waterfall on the south fork of Gordon Creek. I had to place it far enough away that the non-geocaching visitors to the falls hopefully won't find it. There used to be a road running just below the cache, and you can still see some cribbing work intact nearby.

While you're in the area, you should make sure to swing by the nearby railroad trestle and check out the petroglyphs east of there on the north side of the creek.
