Geocache Description:

Get out your Canoe or Kayak and Spend the day or half day Floating down beautiful Floyd's Fork of the Salt River. This is a very scenic and beautiful stream. Wildlife is plentiful and the fishing is great. A main tributary of the Salt river, Floyd's Fork flows south west along the Oldham , Shelby county line, through Jefferson, and Bullitt counties, and ends into the Salt river in Shepherdsville. The current is mild to swift depending on the water level. The streams level of difficulty is class 1+.(great for beginners) The only dangers to navigation include deadfalls and log jams. Put in at the Bardstown road bridge 38'05.072n 085.33.303w. You can take out at the Bells mill rd bridge ky 1526.(Approx 3 hours on the water) 7 miles. Or float to the KOA campground in Shepherdsville 18 miles.(Plan on all day) There are three caches hidden above the banks in very scenic areas. All three are hid within the first five miles.( See float the fork 2 GC11P7Y) And Float the fork triple falls (GC1CJB6) They all are easy finds once you get to the areas. Please bring a pen to sign logs. There are outfitters in the area that rent equipment and plan trips, if you do not have access to a canoe or kayak. Always wear a life vest and never float after a heavy rain or during high water. Ninty percent of the trip at normal safe running water levels , is never over 3 feet deep. Always Use good judgement and caution. Good luck and be safe. (You can also hike this one from the Bardstown Rd bridge, its only nine tenths of a mile.
