The Brush Tunnel is now part of the Great Allegheny Passage Rail Trail which, between Cumberland and Frostburg, shares access with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. The Brush Tunnel is the closest tunnel to Cumberland on the trail, approximately 6 miles from town. Western Maryland Scenic Railroad trains also use the tunnel during the excursion season and info regarding schedules may be found at www.wmsr.com. Begin your hike/ride from the old Western Maryland Station in Cumberland (approx. 12 mile round trip) or the Woodcock Hollow Trailhead (approx. 6 mile round trip). **PS-You can now park at the brand new Cash Valley Road lot and that will make your hike/bike much shorter, enjoy! :)
The cache is located in VERY close proximity to the tunnel, accessed by a not so "well worn trail". (trail is not as evident as it was when cache was originally placed) Cache was placed with both feet planted securely on solid ground and is about 15 steps from the "edge". Please be safe and watch the children VERY carefully or maybe have them wait on the trail.
