Caldon Terminus Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Gushoneybun: Work has been completed now but sadly the hiding place has been filled in. There is nowhere in the vicinity to place a decent sized cache so I am archiving this one, thanks to all who have visited it.

Geocache Description:

A pleasant walk along the River Churnet, although its too bumpy for buggies or wheelchairs, with steps in places. Just past the cache there are steps rising to the canal terminus with the feeder stream from Rudyard Lake just over the stile. The Leek branch of the Caldon Canal was built to bring water from Rudyard Lake. The link was to be a feeder only, but local landlords successfully demanded a canal to benefit the town of Leek. It originally continued another half mile, to where Morrisons supermarket now stands, but
was infilled in the 1950’s. For more information on the canal click on the link here:
(visit link) This is a popular areas with walkers (and their dogs!) so stealth is required when retrieving and replacing the cache.

FTF honours go to:cats-eyes.
