Guisborough Forest Walkway is situated a 1/2 mile from the small village of Pinchinthorpe on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and is the the largest forest in Cleveland.
The main walkway used to be the old Middlesbrough to Guisborough railway line, which was dismantaled in 1964. The original Pinchinthorpe Station can still be seen today, having been converted into cottages.
There has been a Visitor Centre built near to the old station that has a large parking area (70 cars), but during summer can get full pretty quickly.
The centre is the gateway to the forest and the moors, being used for many outdoor activities, horse riding, mountain biking, orienteering, fell running and walking are to name but a few. Also running from the centre is the ranger service which provides education for schools and other groups about the countryside in the area.
The forest holds a wealth of wildlife and deer, fox, badger, and pine marten are often seen here thoughout the year.
Lookout for the many sculptures that are around the site, cut using chainsaws.
The cache site is just off the main track, so watch out for muggles passing by. The parking is free, but check for gate closing time.(if gate closed, parking to the side is permitted)
