Located near Talbot's Point. My first Cache. Its easy. I am working on this area to put it into Wikipedia.
Ammo Box. Parking is at 41 43.615N 70 25.330W at the end of Talbots Point Road.
This area was always a popular Indian encampment up until the 1670's when a farm was built. (big story I need to insert here). I believe the farm house was North West in a clearing about 500 feet from the cache. The Barn was to the west.
The farm has long since grown over and pretty much disappeared. There is still a fresh spring located about 150 feet East of the cache (on the marsh). Just follow the small path, pass the larger intersecting path, straight to the marsh. This spring was used to feed the farm. I fill my water bottle here.
This area was then the hunting camp Dr. John Talbot in the 1940's and 1950's. The area was fenced off and people would hunt on and around the point.
More recent history puts this as a Pheasant farm (about 1000 feet West). Which I believe they stopped using around the late 1980's. It was torn down about 10 years ago.
There is a ton of history about this area, I will keep updating. I grew up in the area and I am in the process of digging up old books about the area.
