Geocache Description:

Upottery airfield was completed in February 1944. It was built mainly for D-day use. American troops were based here with their Dakotas and Gliders. A Dakota could tow 3 gliders and were used for transporting troops across the Channel.
On 5th June 1944 81 C-47 unarmed transport aircraft departed from here carrying 1357 paratroopers to be dropped behind enemy lines for D-day.

Cache is under and behind stones, about 2 feet from the track. Is also behind a little moss curtain.
