Geocache Description:

A short, but steepish walk to Clach na Briton, with views to Ben More by Crianlarich.

Clach na Briton (the stone of the Briton) is a large cannon-shaped rock on a ridge which marks the boundaries of three pre-medieval kingdoms - Strathclyde, Dalriada and Pictland. Robert the Bruce paused here to reconnoitre after his defeat by the MacDougalls of Lorn at the Battle of Dail Righ. It is also reputedly the site of a major battle in 717 between the Scots and Britons.

Park at the Falls of Falloch car park and cross over the road, taking great care, as traffic is very fast here.
There is a gate a few yards down the road, which leads onto a rough road, bending round and up the hill, before petering out just past the small tunnel underneath the railway line. Please make sure you close all the gates behind you.

From here, just follow your arrow up the hill on a faint quad bike trail straight to the rock. There are a lot of fences, but there is no need to climb any of them, the trail will lead you around them. This hill can be a wee bit boggy, even in dry weather, so boots are recommended!
