Porters Lagoon Traditional Cache

The cache is off the road, the road here is a good unsealed surface.
Porters Lagoon is a salt wter lagoon near Burra.
In 1926 Mr H Atkins & others attempted to turn Porters Lagoon into a seaside.
In later years it did actually become a good waterskiing spot.
1926 also was the first Inaugural Aquatic Sports Day at Porters.1928 Aquatic Sports day attracted over 3000 people.
1931 the lagoon was much too low for Sports Day and by March that year they were harvesting salt from the lagoon.
The birdlife here is unbelievable, you just need to take a few minutes be fairly quiet and you will hear and see allsorts.
