Nine British soldiers lost there lives on this spot when the Boers dynamite a British troop train on 31st August 1901. British soldiers that were originally buried at Waterval North, Gangers Cottage, Hammanskraal and Pienaars Rivier Station were buried here at Petronella just north of Pretoria.
