Find the Railroad Speeder

Located on the Iron King Hiking Trail is a collection of three old Railroad Speeders located along the trail. These are small self powered railroad cars used by workmen to get from one location to another quickly over the rails. They are small enough that several men could quickly get them on and off the rails. Imagine riding in one of these on a freezing winter day with the wind blowing. You will see that they offered no comforts and I can imagine how bumpy the ride was with no springs. I remember seeing them zipping down the rails in Minnesota. There are now clubs that restore these Speeders and run them on abandoned rails.

You do not need to climb in or on the Speeder to retrieve the cache. It is a small mint tin with room for very small trades. Rated a 2.5 only because of the distance of the hike. It is a smooth path, nice for a good bike ride.
