:-) Windbeam along Highland Trail Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This is a 0.6 mile walk on the Highlands Trail. Contents include a FTF prize and a bunch of cool stuff in a box similar in style to an "otter box"

This cache is not on NJDEP managed land.

This multi takes you over little Windbeam to Winbeam Mountain.

The cache is called along the Highland's trail for a reason. The cache is 0.4 crow miles from Stage 1. Which means it is over a 1 mile hike round trip.

It is worth the hike and currently you will pass at least two other caches along the way.

However, this may be a tough hike for some but has several magnificent viewpoints in nearly every direction. From the cache you can see New York City through a gap in the mountains to the southeast.

Its a great place to browse, drink wine or simply eat a picnic lunch.

The four times I was up here when I hid, revisited, and then rehid the cache I enjoyed new views and new perspectives.

The first stage is only a few feet off the blue blazed Highlands Trail. From there you will be on your way through the woods and begin a gradual climb up the south slope of Little Windbeam Mountain. You will see a few limited viewpoints along the way. The trail levels out ontop of Little Windbeam, then after a short downhill section it joins the red & white blazed Stonetown Circular Trail and climbs to the top of Windbeam Mountain. Reaching the top you will come to several outstanding viewpoints. Look around on top and enjoy the views. It's a wonderful place.
