El Cabezo del Plomo is one of the Iberian Peninsula's main late-Calcolithic / Neolithic settlements.
It is a fortified settlement located upon a flat hiltop in the foothills of the Sierra de las Moreras, located nearby Bolnuevo. At the highest part of the hill we can still see the settlements's walls and circular houses while lower down there are the remains of a tholos burial, an example of the areas's megalithic activity.
The settlement was populated between the late 4th and mid 3rd millenium BC.
El Cabezo del Plomo has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest. The excavations were undertaken in several stages from 1979 to 1985 by the University of Murcia's Department of Archaeology under the direction of Ana Ma Munoz Amilibia. (more information)
