All distances are as the crow flies. A topo map of the area and a compass would be very helpful. Expect at least a mile hike one way with some nice 'n steep sections.
Forget about following the arrow on your GPS for this cache. This might be easiest to do on a clear day when the city is visible, but it's doable most anytime. I would be cautious to avoid lightning, as the trails are all exposed with no cover, but there are wonderful views of the city pretty much the entire way.
Our GPS was on Magnetic North with a ten degree East variance. You can (and should) adjust yours accordingly.
Parking is available close to the start point, but can be a little tricky to get there.
To make it a little easier, the 'virtual' waypoints are now at trail junctions. After the first waypoint, we recommend taking the road less traveled: take the uphill path to get a good view of Denver!
Finally, a few tips that, combined with some lateral thinking, will make things a bit easier:
*Don't forget a pen and paper to write down useful info.
*Don't mark over your waypoints. Save each waypoint as you find it. They will come in handy!
*Projection isn't necessary, but it couldn't hurt anything either.
*Study up on your GPSr's settings, units, etc. Standard units aren't necessarily the most precise option you have.
*We're nice, helpful people. Take advantage of it.
Update: 3/8/11
The waypoints are no longer microcaches, but with the information below that was provided at each waypoint, you can treat them as virtuals along the trail to point you to the final.
