Bookmarks the Spot - Sumas Traditional Geocache
4cools: This was the last of the Bookmarks the Spot series. It was in the most obvious, easy to find spot, yet outlasted all of the other caches in the series by over two years! Thanks everyone for finding it, and keeping it going.

NOTE: Extra stealth required on this cache depending on time of day or day of the week! The cache is in a camo'ed plastic Costco peanut jar.
Bookmarks the Spot was originally a series of caches to show our appreciation of libraries and the Whatcom County Library System (WCLS). There were caches hidden at eight of the Whatcom County libraries—Blaine, Deming, Everson, Ferndale, Lynden, Maple Falls, Sumas, and Point. We are in the process of disabling these caches as they go missing, but enjoy them while they are here. As we have disabled some of the caches and “clues” in this series, we have also disabled the mystery cache, Bookmarks the Spot—The Final Chapter.
These caches were originally stocked with bookmarks for trading. We still encourage bookmark trades but note that the stock seems to be getting low.
Library Trivia—Sources of Revenue
Public libraries receive most of their revenue from the unit of local government of which they are a part. As of 2004, 52.9% of U.S. public libraries were part of a municipal government, 10.0% were part of a county government, and the remainder reported various other situations. In that same year, the percentage breakdown for sources of revenue (or operating income) were 81.5% local, 10.0% state, 0.5% federal, and 8.0% other. These numbers are from a publication from the American Library Association for the 2004 fiscal year.
