A quick, child friendly cache in an attractive location on the
outskirts of Cambridge, also accessible by car as a cache and dash
or at night
This, my first hide, is an attempt to combine my three favourite
types of caches: quick ones, night ones and child friendly
ones.
Please beware of stealth brambles near or around the cache!
The location is by one of Cambridge's high points (literally) and
is popular with kite flyers (no Kite-Buggies) and dog walkers, and
is also a good place to take little cachers for a picnic or a run
around. At certain times of the year, there's grazing animals to
keep the little ones entertained. You can read about the location
here
There's parking during daylight hours at N52 09.441 E000
10.334, but the carpark is locked up at dusk, in which case
there's parking just outside the area at the side of the road.
There's also a picnic area at N52 09.463 E000 10.387.
The area and cache are accessible 24/7. The cache itself is hidden
just off a public footpath by a major road, which is safely fenced
off, so little cachers will be perfectly safe. There's no bush
whacking, though be aware that there are a few brambles at the
cache site to be careful of. When replacing the cache, please make
sure it remains accessible from both sides of the fence and be sure
to hide carefully, as there's plenty of muggles and their
dogs.
If you want to do it at night or as a cache and dash, there's
alternative parking very close to the cache at N52 09.464 E000
10.624. You can even do it by bus.
When hidden, the cache contained:
An unregistered Travel Bug for FTF
Geocaching Wristband
2 Keyrings
Sretchy man
Mini clipboard
Puzzle
"Lantti" USA geocoin
"I want those deathstar plans" TB
(Please note, the cache is within the perimeter of a public
openspace. A dual carriageway runs along one edge of the public
space. If you are bringing children, you are advised to access via
the parking place outlined above, and not attempt to cross the main
road.)
