Geocache Description:

One road leads to the cache location. This road is home to 4 other caches, find them all. I spend alot of time here during hunting season. If you geocache during hunting season, be sure to wear orange. Unfortunately, there are some litterbugs polluting up this beautiful area. Report any violators to the law. I've noticed some indicators of poaching over the years. Please do not approach any of these individuals. Record as much information as possible and report it to the law enforcement agency.

I believe this hill has become well-known for the disposal of deer carcasses. It may become a little smelly during hunting season as Joe Hunter decides to dispose of his game remains. If you need any animal bones to make any jewerly, weaponry or whatever, just take a peek around. The good side of Carrion Hill is that it provides chow for the predators and scavengers in the area. It doesn’t take long before Turkey Vultures soar over the area watching for dead animals or for other scavengers at work. Turkey Vultures often uses their sense of smell to locate food. They will often fly low to the ground to pick up the scent of ethyl mercaptan, a gas produced by the beginnings of decay in dead animals. The olfactory sense of this bird is particularly large compared to other animals. This heightened ability to detect odors allows it to search for carrion. I often take a break here, as many hunters do, to relax in the warm winter sun and observe game movement from this vantage point. Have fun searching and CITO, leave the carrion for the Cathartidae.
