Geocache Description:

A cache, in a box, by a creek, next to a trail, in a park, in Kemptown, MD.

While scouting out trails in Kemptown Park, we noticed a footbridge crossing the creek down below, and went to check it out. I hadn't seen a trail on the other side of the creek, so I jokingly suggested that maybe it was washed down there in a storm. As we arrived, we came to realize how right I had been; the bridge was lodged against some logs at a bend in the creek, about 30 feet from the trail, which didn't cross the water at all. As we examined the bridge's remains, we stumbled upon a potential hiding spot nearby, and knew we'd found the spot we were looking for.

Take the "Pin Oak Nature Trail" from the first parking lot in Kemptown Park (hidden behind the elementary school). There's a picnic pavillion there, which I'm pretty sure is just "Pavillion 1" or something like that. It's built onto the side of a hill, and there's an information board nearby -- you can't miss it. If you can see the ampetheatre from where you park, you're in the wrong lot. In case you're still having trouble, the trailhead is at:

N 39º 19.921'
W077º 14.147'

The nature trail turns downhill and doubles back after marker #14, but the trail continues on ahead without markers, as well. You can come back for markers 15 through 25 after finding the cache; the trail forms a closed loop and takes you back to the parking lot. After a short distance, a branch to your left will lead you downhill towards the creek and the cache. You should be able to stick to the trail until you're maybe 20 or 30 feet from the hiding spot. After that, it may get a bit marshy, depending on how recently we've had rain.

The cache box is a clear storage container with a blue lid. I found that it doesn't really seal too well, so make sure you bring enough baggies to perform waterproofing duties on whatever you bring to trade.

Happy Hunting!
