Near cairns above the Pennine Grisdale. Excellent views.
Grisdale Pike on Baugh Fell offers excellent views including Grisdale ("The Dale that Died"), Garsdale station on the Settle-Carlisle line, Great Shunner Fell and some of Mallerstang, Wild Boar Fell, and on a clear day, the Eden Valley and Wensleydale. There are several cairns at the location, and the largest can be climbed (with care). Please do not dismantle the cairns! There is nothing under them! The cache can be found without moving a single stone, not even a small one. The excellent GPS reception here (more than 12 satellites) ensures that you will easily locate the cache, but remember not to move any stone.... Please take care when taking out and putting back the container because millstone grit is surprisingly sharp, and grazed knuckles can be painful!
The easiest access point is from the narrow road into Grisdale where a short section of the public road borders common land just before the "double hole bridge".
