Suurivuori is the highest place of city of Kotka. This hill rises to 87 m AMSL and provides excellent views over the southern Kymenlaakso province (otherwise flat as billiards table).
10 000 years ago Baltic Sea was 150-80 m higher than nowadays. You can find those ancient shorelines at 80 m contour, marked by huge rock fields.
Suurivuori on Kotkan kaupungin korkein kohta. Mäki nousee 87 m merenpinnan ylle, ja tarjoaa erinomaiset näköalat koko eteläiseen Kymenlaaksoon. Suurivuorelta voit löytää valtavia kiviryökkiöitä, jotka ovat muinaisen Ancylusjärven (8000 v. e.a.a) rantaviiva. Nämä kivikot sijaitsevat tasaisesti pitkin 80 m korkeuskäyrää.
