Die Felswand zeigt eine Schichtenfolge der Trias, speziell die höheren Bereiche des vor ca. 240 Millionen Jahren entstandenen Unteren Muschelkalks (Wellenkalkfolge), (das Liegende der Schaumkalkzone) mit einem Wechsel von dünnplattigem bis bankigen Sedimentgestein.

Die Geologen können hier im Detail die komplizierten Vorgänge der ursprünglichen Sediment-Ablagerung und späteren Verfestigung studieren.

(In dieser Hinsicht ist der Aufschluß einmalig für Südwest-Thüringen und besonders erhaltenswert)

Beantworte mir folgende Frage: Ich erwähnte Sedimentgestein. Welche Sedimentgesteine findet man an diesem Aufschluß vor?

The cliff shows a layer sequence of the Triassic, particularly the higher ranges approx. 240 million years ago of the lower Muschelkalk (wave lime sequence), developed, (the lying of the foam lime zone) with a change from thin to bank-shaped sedimentary rock. The geologists can study here in the detail the complicated procedures of the original sediment deposit and later solidification. (In this regard the outcrop is uniquely receive worth for southwest Thuringia)
