Preservation Oaks Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

wetlands: This little cache was hidden on April 8th, 2007. Over all this time it was removed only once by someone who must have needed an old ammo box filled with toys. Over these 14 years, the cache was logged by 355 visitors. The key reason to place a geocache here was to attract people to this beautiful tiny spot with an old oak tree, easily over 100 years old. For a while, this tree was home base for a group of druids who decorated the tree with various necklaces of shells, and beads. But a very strong storm came through the area a few months ago and brought this beautiful memorial to nature down to the ground. So with no special tree to memorialize I am archiving this one so maybe I'll post a new one nearby.

Geocache Description:

Easy find but park car carefully and watch out for traffic since road gets heavy travel. The stop sign that was at corner has been replaced by caution light so cars do not stop. Construction of sidewalk now restricts parking to opposite side of the park or around corner of adjacent road. Please watch out for traffic!

Very easy find in an ammo box.

This Park was the result of the cooperative efforts of a lot of people in the community who transformed what was a dump into a very beautiful little area to relax or take a picnic lunch under these magnificent trees. There are 14 Oak Trees with two that are over 250 years old. Very possibly some soldiers rested under some of these trees during the civil war.
