Untitled
Rubbermaid and Trinkets on Wood, 2007.
On loan from the private collection of Mr. and Mrs. Low
Racer.
This exquisite piece is from the artist's later years, when he
pulled back artistically from his more convoluted and puzzling
earlier works. This piece is a stunning example of the
nouveau-minimalist cache philosophy. Simple lines, transparent yet
oh-so-watertight container. The artist has made extensive use of
found materials in their natural settings in bringing this piece to
life. Note the heightened use of woodsy textures, intermingled and
juxtaposed against the artifice of plastic and rubber. Contrast the
delightful slickness and low-contrast of the rubbermaid container
with the deliciously bright and colorful trinkets inside.
This will surely appreciate in value.
