Geocache Description:

Just off interstate 80 at the Alda interchange. The area is accessible to both east and westbound traffic. There is a walk of about 0.2 miles from the parking area through grass and on primitive trails. In the summer, this is most definitely tick territory. This lake is used by the local fisherman and gets some traffic, please be discrete when accessing the cache and make sure that it is well hidden when you are done. A similar cache nearby has had to be replaced twice.

This part of Nebraska is at the neck in the hourglass of the central flyway migration route. In February,March and April this area is inundated with water fowl including hundreds of thousands of Sandhill cranes, geese and ducks. They use the Platte River valley as a rest and refueling stop during migration. The Platte river valley is the only place on their route where they stop for any amount of time. If you are lucky, late in this period, you may see a rare and endangered Whooping Crane. This cache is a camo lock n lock. Please cache in trash out.
