This cache lies close to Carrbrook Reservoir (Cowbury Dale).
The Carr Brook stream supported up to six mills and a print works in the 1840’s. To guarantee supplies the Print Works undertook a huge water management project, which involved creating holding reservoirs along the length of Carr Brook.
In the 1890’s the Dam and Reservoir were created at the confluence of the streams in Cowbury Dale. The materials were transported from the village to the construction site along a narrow gauge railway and evidence of this can still be seen just beyond the cache site.
Car parking can be found in Carrbrook village, very close to the Carrbrook Troll cache. There are good paths all the way to Carrbrook Dam, about 0.5 miles away and this lends itself to continuing onto other caches, such as Liberator, Dog Memorial or Buckton Castle.
